I studied Graphic Design at Harrow College of Art, and have since
worked as a successful designer in publishing for clients including
BBC books, Conran, and Harper Collins. I have always loved prints,
and been fascinated by the technique.
A drypoint evening class was the catalyst to my interest in printmaking,
and after becoming freelance in 2003, I was able to attend a part-time
workshop at Amersham College where I developed my printmaking
skills.
My prints are inspired by my fascination with the textures and patterns
found in both the natural and man-made landscape around us, as
well as a sense of mystery about where things may lead and where
they may have originated. I am drawn to exploring different subjects
from the high roller-coasting hills of the Shropshire landscape to the
dark alley ways of Marrakesh.
I enjoy the direct and rich mark making of the collagraph process,
as well as the more precise methods of reduction lino-cut and etching,
which probably reflect my graphics background.
No matter how skilled you are the ‘happy accidents’ that occur in
printmaking give the process a unique edge. Nothing can beat the
thrill of peeling back the paper to reveal a new print!
